Fender Super-Sonic 22

2011 Blonde Fender Super-Sonic 22

22 W, 1×12” valve combo, Class AB (2 x 6V6), 2 foot-switchable channels with spring reverb, effects loop.

These amps are renowned for being loud and with great tone but they are also criticised for having a noisy reverb, being hissy at low volumes and for audio pops when switching between the dirty and clean channels.

This amp has been modified to remove these defects while retaining the great clean and dirty tones.

Comes complete with a master volume box which when plugged into the effects send/return loop works as a master volume control allowing you to push the preamp but keep the volume in room down to acceptable levels.

Patrick Eggle Prototype Class D Combo

Eggle Wave125 Class D 1×12″Combo

Class D 1×12” combo, probably 125W peak power, single channel with EL34/6L6 emulation, built in power attenuation control.

This is a prototype Class D, guitar combo that was built either by or for Patrick Eggle.

I believe the amp has a 125 Watt power rating which is consistent with the huge toroidal transformer contained within the chassis indicating that this Class D power amp uses a linear power supply rather than the usual switched mode power supply.

There are the usual amp controls but in addition a control which allows you to change the ‘valve’ emulation of the amp between EL34 and 6L6 modes, I assume that this control it is probably some sort of EQ contouring.

The speaker is 8 Ohm and British made but there are no other identifying marks to tell who made it or what its power handling capability is.

The combo cabinet is made form MDF and is a bit rough in places so could use some tidying up or maybe re-fit the amp in a good quality ply or pine cabinet.

The overall tone of the amp is quite nice, more valve like than many other solid state examples but probably not enough to satisfy the purists.
